Ödesängen

Ödesängen is a rock band from Finland that performs in Swedish.

The band consists of Oskar Karlsson (vocals/guitar), Olle Häggblom (keyboard), Niclas Blomqvist (bass), Pontus Johansson (drums), and Alexander Nieminen (guitar).

Four of the band members used to play in another band called First of Us, which went on hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic. During that time, lead singer Oskar Karlsson released a solo project under the artist name Desperate Youth in the summer of 2021. When the members could meet regularly again, the idea of making music in their native language, Swedish, emerged. At the same time a new guitarist was recruited, and the new band Ödesängen was formed.

The band’s name, which translates to “Meadow of Fate”, comes from a place near their rehearsal studio on the outskirts of Porvoo.

Over the past two years, the band has been writing and recording numerous new songs. The songs deal with love, life, the world, and the times we live in. Ödesängen’s debut single Andetag was released on February 2, 2024.

Andetag was a mainstay on the Top 10 list “Vegatoppen” for Finnish-Swedish music for 17 weeks and has been actively played on Swedish-speaking radio in Finland.

Ödesängen’s third single, Var timme var minut, will be released on June 14, 2024. On May 18, Ödesängen debuted the song at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki. The performance was streamed live nationally on Yle Areena.
